Helping ADM Londis keep its national store network fully stocked
ADM Londis provides a product storage and wholesale distribution service to Londis stores across Ireland. TDG initially provided ADM Londis with 50,000 square foot of warehousing in 1999. When further capacity was needed in 2000 to help meet increasing customer demand, TDG stepped up to the challenge.
An 80,000 square foot site at Johnstown was identified. Pre-relocation, TDG enhanced operational and site mechanics, installing additional loading bays, new racking configurations, securing the bonded warehousing area, training additional staff and ensuring all IT interfaces were secure and operationally ready. The move was completed in just two days.
Warehouse operations are now restructured by commodity type to improve efficiency and accommodate an upgrade to voice-picking technology. The new layout and better stacked product optimises walk sequences for pickers. Damages have also reduced and productivity levels are set to rise.
Balancing customer needs with the limited storage space in store, TDG have also instituted nominated delivery days (with additional capacity for short cycle order requests); this has cut costly drops, but maintained operational flexibility. Warehouse capacity has since been extended by a further 10,000 square feet.
