Argos Distribution Site of the Year goes to TDG

TDG’s distribution centre at Mossend in Scotland is celebrating being awarded 2010 Site of the Year award from Argos Distribution. The award is given to the site that scored most highly against criteria including customer service, deliveries on time, site engagement and stock management performance.

General manager, Gerry Friel was delighted. “We’ve got a cracking team here,” he said. “They’ve excelled themselves and should take all the credit. I’m really chuffed.”

TDG has operated the distribution for Argos since 2004, and has won a number of operational, charity and sporting accolades including the RoSPa Gold award in May, involvement in Help for Heroes charity and has medals for its 5 a side football squad.

Richard Morgan, supply chain director at Argos said “This is a well deserved award. The combination of the site’s safety record, TDG’s engagement with our retailers, real understanding of what we’re trying to achieve, and giving a great service meant that they were this year’s clear winners.”

Ali Stewart, operations development manager, explained the decision to award TDG first Site of the Year in more detail: “TDG Mossend won the award because they delivered consistently great service to its customers, with a real focus on clearing their daily volumes. They have a well deserved reputation as a centre of excellence for communication to stores and in addition they are the most creative site in adapting to cost and volume challenges, with excellent improvements in gross and net stock loss.

“The team at Mossend successfully took on the challenge on cross-docking Homebase kitchens and bathrooms and Argos Direct, and not least of all, they have a great health and safety track record with the lowest number of accidents and excellent controls.”
