Developing agile and dynamic demand-driven supply networks
Manufacturers of paper and packaging are feeling the pressure. The cost of materials, product and logistics is increasing. And customers are ever more demanding on service, standards and pricing. This puts a squeeze on margins. Added to this is the challenge of finding a balance between environmental and economic needs.
Some are responding to these issues through global sourcing initiatives. But consolidation is also a feature as companies seek to increase market share, remove surplus production capacity and achieve a lower cost base.
How can we help?
Paper & packaging is an industry where we’ve particular expertise. We’ve worked with clients to re-engineer their supply chain operations so that they can better manage these pressures. We aim to improve operational efficiency and lower total supply chain costs. Some of this is on a risk & reward basis – our remuneration is directly linked to our success in delivering what we’ve promised.
One of our key initiatives has been our hi-cube transport network. Serving customers such as Kimberly-Clark, SCA and Georgia Pacific it stands at 1000 trailers and over 325 units strong. It uses our Integrated Transport Management system supported by Paragon’s resource planning tool. Greater and better utilised capacity along with optimal route planning ultimately means a more competitive cost for our customers.
