1922 The General Lighterage Co Ltd is formed (initially moving products from ship to shore, road transport and warehousing capability followed later)
1950 The General Lighterage Co Ltd becomes a public limited company
1957 Company changes its name to Transport Development Group
1963 Expansion into Europe begins
1968-74 Businesses acquired in Holland and France
1982 Re-registration as a public limited company (Transport Development Group plc)
1980's Focus on core activities: distribution, storage, transport
Non-core operations are sold, including those in USA and Australia
1999 David Garman appointed CEO
Van Straaten (Holland) acquired
2000 Now known as TDG plc
Safeguard and SDS (UK) and Van den Berg (Holland) acquired
2001 La Fleche (France), TCG (Holland) and IWT (Ireland) acquired
2002 Data Services business disposed of
2003 French operations exited
2006 Mond & Cie (Belgium), Bradship & SCA Transport (UK) acquired
2007 Briskair (UK) and Doman S. A. (Spain) acquired. First logistics company to be awarded BS25999 business continuity standard
2008 TDG becomes a privately owned company: TDG UK Ltd – its new owners are DouglasBay Capital , an AIM listed company
2009 Mike Branigan takes over from David Garman as CEO. Operations commence in Hungary.
2010 RRS (Hungary) acquired
